Our research group develops functional supramolecular systems, integrating the areas of supramolecular chemistry, organic and bio-organic chemistry, physico-chemistry as well as molecular biology. Our interest is not only driven by the synthetic challenges of self-assembled systems but also on the application of these molecular architectures.
Our research is oriented to provide a molecular-level understanding of chemical reactivity in complex environments to enable construction and application of molecular architectures having nanometer-sized dimensions. This multidisciplinary research effort employs novel chemical and biochemical approaches to design functional molecular, supramolecular, and self-organized systems. Our endeavours span the areas of synthetic organic chemistry, physical organic chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, biophysics, enzymology and molecular biology.
