Department of Chemical Engineering, Université Laval
Regular Researcher
Since joining Laval University’s Department of Chemical Engineering, Professor Francis Bougie has been particularly interested in developing new processes focused on the extraction, separation, and purification of metals and molecules of interest from secondary sources (e.g., electronic and computer waste; bio-based residues). Several approaches are being implemented, including the use of supercritical fluids, organic acids, green solvents such as deep eutectic solvents, and functionalized adsorbents. These areas of research are essential for a green and sustainable future.
Keywords : Green and sustainable processes; Critical and strategic metals; Deep eutectic solvents; Nanoparticle synthesis; Electronic waste recovery; Leaching; Extraction; Separation.
