Daniela was born in Florence, Italy where she also pursued her undergraduate studies in chemistry. She then obtained her Master’s in Chemistry of Biological Molecules from the University of Florence and University College Dublin ( Ireland), and a doctorate in biocatalysis in the laboratory of Prof. Paradisi, again in UCD. After her PhD, Daniela worked both in industry (Synthace, UK) and academia (postdoc in Prof. Turner’s lab at Manchester University (UK), and in Prof. Pelletier’s lab at UdeM). After a brief period at Carleton University, she is now an Assistant Professor at UQAM, where she has been leading the Quaglia lab since September 2023. Daniela is a seasoned science communicator, and she has written for high-reputation websites, such as the Huffington Post.
